Assignment III Final

And now the final work.

Base on the assignment 2, backgroud changed to a colorful theme to convey the impression of the nature and the tornado is twisting everything and soon it'll be time for the house.
The statement "Save our only home" make a connection to the house in the bottom of the page , however the word "home" referes to the planet earth.
There is also some simple solutions given which could be done in our everyday lives.

The process

1.As it was told before on assignment II the background is made of eclipses using brush called "Fire ash". Then in the final work these eclipses is given different fill color and the transparency set to 53%.

2.The house is just a bit resized and the transparency type is set to "soft light" which makes it merged with the background.

3.Now it's time for the tornado to be appeared which is made of eclipses using "Splash" brush.

4.Next is to make the tornado more darker and more deeper. To do so another tornado is needed just on top of the first tornado in a seperate layer and transparency type should be set to "Color burn".

5.There is also some possible and easy solutions given in a paragraph using text tool.Transparency type is set to "Color Burn" as well.

6.When there is the twisting object in the page it couled be nice to put the design statement on one of the curve sides of the tornado. In this case, same curve is created using pen tool and then the text is applied to that path.

Assignment 3 Title: Tornado
Project Start Date: August 19, 2008
Project Finish Date: September 9, 2008.
Project Manager: Kourosh Ghahremani
Email: kourosh06@gmail.com

Project Objectives:

In this assignment as the final step to make the message clear and effective, I need to elaborate the tornado and the house to make it more connected to each other which means that the tornado is so abstract but the house is very real. As the matter of fact, they need to be more related.
The whole concept is to show one of the hazardous impacts of the global warming, which is stronger and deadlier tornadoes, and at the same time convey this message that if we act quickly we will definitely survive.

Approach:

The pen tool is the most used tool in the project with different brush effects. I traced the house from a picture taken from National Geographic web site, which showed the formation of a tornado far from a warehouse in a desert. The tornado was created with the reshaped circles to eclipses and resized to show the twisting clouds.

Roles and Responsibilities:

In the following week I’m going to make the necessary changes on assignment 2 to prepare it for the final assignment. This includes the changes in colors and after that I’m going to synchronize the statement and the design.

Comment:

The most important and difficult part for me is to make the design and statement (the texts) so clear and
Effective.

Assignment II

Ideation

This picture is showing the formation a tornado in the desert. Typical land twisters, tornadoes may form over desert (dust devils), forest fires or volcanoes (firewhirls), or oceans (waterspouts).

As is it shown on left picture, the twister is already formed and that shows the current status of the Earth. However the house is still fine and not ruined yet which means there may be some time to solve the problem before the complete destruction. All the work is in black and white to emphasise on the hazardous impacts and critical situations we are all going to see in this life time.

Now the Symbol

Analayze

The hatched background shows a heavily rainy storm. The hurricane is clearly shown at the top-left corner which tends to reach the centre of the rectangle , so i hope it clearly shows the movement. And the spiral-flying fishes represent a school of fish chasing the clouds in the sky, as the warmer earth is evaporating the water faster.
This is the final Symbol representing tornado.

Here is how it's done.

1. This spiral cloud is created to be disorted to a hurricane shape later. Pen tool was used.

2. The next step is to disort the spiral cloud using the Roughen filter.

3. Now is time to twist the cloud to build a hurricane figure just by using Twirl filter.

4. To show the flying fishes over the clouds it is easy to draw one fish and copy ,resize and rotate to follow a spiral path using the pen tool. The stroke is to be changed to the marker tool found on the brush panel.

5. The final step is to create the rainy background. To do so, a rectangle with the navy-blue fill is needed. After that the hatch-effect filter is all need to be done.

Inspiration and sketches

These are the two images which gave me the whole idea. The first one which is called the "school of fish" gave me the idea of floating fishes in the sky , as the sun glow is clear in the picture. Higher tempreture leads to more evaporation and heavier clouds. As the matter of fact these creatures would seek for water into the sky. The second picture ,which is an eye of an hurricane ,is one of the effects of the global warming.

Here in the sketches , these two factors are clear. Figure 1 and 2 are views from earth to an eye of an hurricane.
Figure 3 is my preliminary idea of fishes in the sky which also represent the clouds.

The whole view would be a mixture of these three figures which is shown in figure 4. The orange color is the sun and the blue-green color used to show the fishes which represent the clouds.

Tornado

Tornado and the climate change.

As we are currently experiencing the earth getting warmer, it is clear that this change is affecting every natural phenomenon such as tornadoes.
However there are few evidence that demonstrate the relation between the Global Warming and the increase in the tornadeos, the recent Nasa study shows that as the temperature rise stronger tornadoes may occure.
Base on this study, warmer climate by just 5 degrees will decrease humidity and vigorous tornadoes will be formed in higher levels than sea. This means that, however the number of tornadoes will be decreased but we would have much stronger tornadoes. And drier climate increases the risk of fire while lightning.
